It is with great sadness to write that Tim Attaya, founder and promoter of the Northeast Motorsports Expo for twenty years, has passed away following a brief illness. Tim was 76. Tim’s big passion was auto racing, as a teenager riding to the track with George Silva, driving a race car in the early 1960s at Unity Raceway, helping to promote races at Unity, Wiscasset Speedway and Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and creating the Northeast Motorsports Expo. Originally, the “Augusta show” was called the All Seasons Motorsports Expo & Trade Show because Tim wanted to promote all forms of motorsports activity that northern New England presented 12 months of the year. To Tim, it didn’t matter if it was sand drags, snowmobile racing, drag racing, sports car racing, motocross, ice racing, truck and tractor pulling, mud runs or short track racing, he found a spot for them in his show. I worked side-by-side with Tim for twenty years and saw his passion for auto racing and motorsports up close. He was a very good friend of mine who I will miss greatly but he was a better friend to motorsports and everyone involved in it.
